You will meet at Assam State Museum at10:00 AM. They will first explore the StateMuseum established by the Kamarupa Anusandhan Samiti(Assam Research Society) in 1940.Late Kanklal Baruah was founder president. In the year 1953, it was taken over by the State Govt. The museums include the finest metal work of prehistoric era; items made from terracotta, tribal arts and manuscripts and exhibit the unique culture, tradition and diversity of Assam culture. The collection includes some of the bygone era metal work, ivory paintings, folk art, copper plate inscriptions of 5th and 12 century, bamboo items, royal garments, coins and musical instruments.
The desire to get an insight about the culture and history of the place compels the people to add a visit to the magnificent museums in their travel itinerary plan besides visiting other popular places of the city. There is also a well stocked library in the museum that contains books and journals on various fields like the art, biography mythology and encyclopedic works. Later we walk on the pavement of Dighalipukhuri - onceused by the Ahoms as a naval yard. You will pass the High Court of Assam entering Pan Bazaar A major landmark of the city. The area also includes many libraries, major government offices and a shopping district.
